Rose Short was born on September 2, 1985, and from Killeen, Texas, USA. While only one of The Voice’s Final Four would emerge victorious in Season 17’s last results show Tuesday, the episode was a win/win proposition for viewers.

In the three seasons that Gwen Stefani was a coach on The Voice, she never mentored a champion. Gwen’s finalist Rose Short has been a favorite since the Blind Auditions, but her position in the finale was threatened during last week’s Top 8 eliminations. After a dramatic Instant Save kept her in the competition, some fans seem even more determined to crown Rose the winner.

Rose started singing when she was just five years old. Her family lived in Germany, where her father was stationed for the military, and she often performed at community events on the base growing up. When they eventually relocated to Texas, Rose performed with local choir and theater groups.

Rose had a natural talent for singing and a great love for music. When she was living in Texas, she got involved in a choir as well as in the theater. Although she couldn’t make enough money at the time to pay the bills with her singing, it was a passion that never died. She had to move on to other things to take care of the practical matters of life.

She worked as a maximum-security prison for males and her official title was a corrections officer. She had spent a total of eight years of her life in this job, but when the time came when she could afford to quit her job to return full-time to pursue her passion for writing and performing her music she did and it’s what she is doing now.

Even with her background as a professional musician, Rose had to be pushed to audition for The Voice. Her best friend and manager Taundra Shaw said that she “didn’t want to do it” and refused to go to the audition in her home state.

Additionally, she also had an interest in the theater and stage acting. She had done a bit of it before becoming a corrections officer. she performed in plays in the Killeen, Texas area while she was grappling with the decisions about whether or not to go after a career as a singer.
