On Youtube, she has 5 million subscribers and in the latest video, she uploaded fans are a bit concerned about her. In the video, Sayf made a hand signal in which she showed her palm to the camera with her thumb tuck. According to the sources it means “The Violence at Home Signal for Help.”
The Youtuber uploaded this video on January 11th and it’s 30 seconds long, initially, she spoke in Arabic and told her subscriber she is quitting Youtube and made the hand signal “The Violence at Home Signal for Help.”
During the time of writing the video has gained 13.3 million views. Since then, many fans are worried about her safety, on Twitter one user wrote “Hello everybody. there is a lady called om Sayf, she holds over 5 million subscribers on youtube. she posted a video saying she is quitting after 2 years, and she put the hand signal to put when u are in trouble (high five and palm folded) so if you know anything, please help!”
Then, another person wrote “Hello to our Turkish friends and police as you can see this youtuber needs help and is a victim of domestic violence as she did the secret sign that she thought might help her. also her sweater says “freedom” and a swollen lip with blood. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.”
The Canadian Women’s Association created the hand signal for those who are victims of domestic violence to silently call for help, on their website they wrote “The social isolation measures necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic are making it more difficult for those who are at risk of abuse or violence to safely reach out for help. ‘Signal for Help’ is a simple one-handed sign someone can use on a video call. It can help a person silently show they need help and want someone to check in with them in a safe way.”
