Amie Harwick was 38 years old and Ex-Wife of Drew Carey is found dead at her Hollywood Hills home on Saturday. According to the report, Gareth Pursehouse, Harwick’s 41-year-old ex-boyfriend, is a suspect in her death and was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder on Saturday afternoon.

Dr. Amie Harwick, a well-known Hollywood family, and sex therapist were killed Saturday at her home in the Hollywood Hills, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. LAPD said in a statement this evening.

“On Saturday, February 15, 2020, around 1:16 a.m. Hollywood patrol officers responded to a radio call of a ‘woman screaming’ in the 2000 block of Mound Street in Hollywood Hills.” When officers arrived, Harwick’s roommate met them in the street and informed officers that she was being assaulted. The roommate had escaped by jumping over a wall and going to a neighboring residence to call for help.

The investigation revealed possible evidence of a struggle upstairs as well as forced entry into the residence, police said. Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Saturday by FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force members on suspicion of murder outside his residence in Playa Del Rey.

He is being held on $2 million bails. Police said they believed that Harwick’s ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, forced his way into her apartment and a struggle then ensued. They said that Harwick was fearful of Pursehouse and had recently taken a restraining order out against him, though the order ended two weeks ago.

Harwick was known for her work as a popular sex therapist, she gained widespread fame through her relationship with the actor and comedian.

Harwick and Carey were first connected in June 2017 after The Price Is Right host shared a picture with her on Instagram. The two were together for a year and got engaged the following February, but would split in November of 2018.

Harwick had made a name for herself in her field and published a popular book, The New Sex Bible for Women. As the book’s description noted, it was something of a self-help guide for women that positioned Harwick as an expert in the field.

Harwick was also active on social media, frequently posting videos to YouTube in which she spoke about the importance of self-care, mental health, relationships, and a range of other topics.

A day before her death, Harwick took to Instagram to reflect on the Valentine’s Day holiday and what it means to people. In a thoughtful post, she wrote “Many people are celebrating love today. Whether you are in a relationship or not, exposure to this could feel overwhelming if you are in an unhealthy relationship, dissatisfied with your relationship status, unhappy in your relationship, or feeling pressured to be in a relationship. I think that Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to be mindful and redirect thoughts about love to platonic love. There is so much cultural emphasis on romantic love, but let’s be thankful for the authentic love that we give and receive to friends.”
