The 72-year-old Vijay joined in the Indian Army after he was graduated from his college in Nagpur. Since his teenage, he was interested to join the army and serve India. He has served as Indian Air Force Wing Commander and during 1971, Indo-Pak war the officer is remembered for his brave action in rebuilding the destroyed airstrip. He took the support of 300 local women in building the destroyed Indian Air force strip and that movement is remembered as the Indian Pearl Harbour Movement.
