Friends of the former Triple M host confirmed she had died on Monday, the Courier-Mail reports. It’s understood she had lost a long-term battle with alcoholism and mental illness.
Fans and fellow radio hosts paid tribute to Ms. Power on Twitter. “Very shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Sammy Power,” ABC Brisbane breakfast radio host Loretta Ryan tweeted. “I can still hear her talking about her cats and her infectious laugh.”
Former radio presenter Spencer Howson tweeted: “First Gary Ord and now Sammy Power. We’ve lost two Brisbane breakfast radio presenters within a week. Stunned.”

Curently, she was CEO at PowerSquared and she was a Breakfast Announcer in January 1984 and served there from January 1984 to April 2012.
In April 2012, she was Director at Jan Powers Farmers Markets and till now she was serving there and Sammy is also the CEO of PowerSquared and Sammy Powder Production.
Ms. Power previously told The Courier-Mail she ditched her 28-year radio career, which included a stint on Triple M because she was “burnt out” and “over it”. She came back to Brisbane to help her mother Jan Power run her famous farmers’ markets and to live a more peaceful existence.
Furthermore, in an interview with DailyMail, she revealed her previous health issues and her battle with the bulge. She said she was ‘fat and didn’t have a boyfriend’ and both became factors in why she ultimately decided to make a change.
