Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani was identified as the active shooter who killed three people and wounded eight more at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. NBC News reported that he was a member of the Saudi Air Force who was in the U.S. for training, officials said.

Authorities confirmed that two Escambia County sheriff’s deputies, who were at the scene immediately after reports of shots fired at about 6:50 a.m., were injured in an exchange of gunfire with the shooter. Sheriff David Morgan said, “Walking through the crime scene was like being on the set of a movie.”

According to the U.S. official, an investigation of whether the shooting activity is terrorism-related. Regarding this incident, President Donald Trump tweeted Friday afternoon that he had heard from the Saudi monarch.
“King Salman of Saudi Arabia just called to express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies to the families and friends” of the victims, Trump wrote. He added that the king said, “this person in no way shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people who love the American people.”
Jason Bortz, a public affairs officer for the station, also confirmed to NBC News that the base was placed on lockdown. They started receiving calls at 6:30 a.m. and local authorities and military police responded.
NAS Pensacola employs more than 16,000 militaries and 7,400 civilian personnel, according to its website. One of the Navy’s most historic and storied bases, it sprawls along the waterfront southwest of downtown Pensacola and dominates the economy of the surrounding area.

Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani was the 2nd Lieutenant in the Saudi Air Force and was a Saudi aviation student. CNN reports that he was a member of the Saudi Arabian military training at the station.
But he is now dead according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Navy also confirmed on Twitter. The shooter is “confirmed dead,” the Escambia County Sheriff wrote on its Facebook page on December 6, 2019.
Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, who represents the district where NAS Pensacola is located, has called for the shooting to be investigated as an act of terror. In an Interview with CNN, he said: “We can safely call this an act of terrorism, not an act of workplace violence.”
