On March 16th, 2020 Manny accused Makeup Revolution of “allegedly copying” his design and shared this news on his Youtube video. In the video titled “I Never wanted to make this video” and in his 14-minute video, he shared his anger for copying out the “identical” Lunar Beauty product and Makeup Revolution’s new highlighter.

Later, in the video, Manny cleared out that “it’s not a stock component” his team cerated and built the product from scratch, he said. Manny also accused the Makeup Revolution of copying other products and making as their own. Makeup Revolution was launched in 2014 by Adam Minto and Tom Allsworth and this brand are known for its affordable duplications of popular and more expensive products.

Makeup Revolution has a history of copying products such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Too Faced, Urban Decay, and more. However, after seeing Manny Mua’s video Makeup Revolution shared a statement to Instagram on March 16th and said that there had been a mistake and they are taking immediate steps to remove the product from sale.

Makeup Revolution Replied to Manny Mua On Instagram and acknowledged that there had been a “Mistake.”

On March 16th, the Makeup Revolution official Instagram page wrote a statement on Instagram “Revolution was presented this component by several third parties at a publicly attended trade fair in March 2019 and were led to believe that it was a freely available design. Our product – part of Revolution’s Glass Collection – launched in February 2020.”

“We were unaware of Lunar Beauty’s product launch. On the launch of our product, Lunar Beauty’s legal team contacted us, but, despite our requests, failed to supply any evidence of his alleged copyright or trade dress right in his design, or even to identify or provide images or illustrations of the product that he claimed were at issue.”

“Having seen MannyMUA’s video, released on Sunday 15 March 2020, in which he produces documentation purportedly showing the componentry tooling of his product (even if not any protectable copyright or trade dress rights in that product), as a matter of courtesy and out of an abundance of caution, we have taken the immediate steps to remove the product from sale and will notify our distributors to do the same.”

“Our intention is not to crush the spirit of entrepreneurialism. We intend to make beauty trends affordable for all. We do our best not to make mistakes like this, but if we do, we take steps to make things right. And for that reason, we have acted quickly and passionately.”

From a very young age, he was interested in make-up and used to watch his mother do her make-up. Then, he started to work at Sephora and MAC, then in 2014, he began his Youtube channel.

Mainly on his Youtube channel, he uploads about he uploads make-up tutorials, make-up first impressions, and beauty tips. Manny collaborated with the Makeup Geek on an eye-shadow palette, Ofra Cosmetics on lip products, and Jeffree Star Cosmetics on two highlighters and 2 lipsticks.

In 2017, Manny becomes the brand ambassadors for Maybelline along with fellow YouTuber Shayla Mitchell and he became the second mail after r James Charles who had been previously announced as a spokesperson for CoverGirl in October 2016. Later, the same year he was the only male to make People magazine’s annual “Most Beautiful” list.

In 2018, Manny made his appearance in season three of Escape the Night as the Record Producer and also started his makeup line called Lunar Beauty and launched the brand’s first eye shadow palette, Life’s a Drag. Earlier, Manny and his Ex-friend Jeffree Star announced a collaboration for Star’s make-up brand but the duo was sued by Black Moon Cosmetics after trademark infringement.
